Medium-format SLR · From 1969
Pentax showed a prototype in 1965 and released the Asahi Pentax 6×7 in 1969, a 6×7 SLR for 120 or 220 film with an actual frame of 56 × 70 mm. It became the Pentax 67 in 1990, and the 67 II followed in 1999. Lens names follow their age, Super-Takumar first, then Takumar Super-Multi-Coated, then SMC Pentax 67, and the standard lens is the 105 mm f/2.4. The focal-plane shutter is timed electronically, so the camera needs a battery to fire.
Mirror lock-up arrived in 1976 to tame the vibration of the big mirror, so earlier bodies don't have it. Pentax 67 lenses also fit the Pentax 645 with an adapter.
