Camera type
A half-frame camera splits the standard 35mm frame in two, exposing 18 × 24 mm pictures, so a 36-exposure roll gives you 72 shots. The frame runs upright, so holding the camera normally gives you a vertical picture. Olympus started its Pen half-frame line in 1959, and the Pen F of 1963 turned it into an SLR system with interchangeable lenses and a rotary shutter that syncs flash at every speed up to 1/500. It suits anyone who wants more pictures per roll from a very small camera.
